Dr. Katrina Tellesson
Dr. Katrina Tellesson
Dr. Katrina Tellesson graduated from the University of Melbourne before specialising in general practice on the north west coast of Tasmania. Her interest areas are preventative health, family planning and sexual health.
Dr. Tellesson now calls Launceston home, balancing her working week between Launceston Women’s Health Clinic and the Launceston Medical Centre.
Dr Sujana Nepal
Dr Sujana Nepal
Dr Sujana Nepal grew up in Nepal, graduated medicine in Bangladesh, and moved to Australia in 2009 where she works as a GP. She has a special interest all aspects of women’s health and in 2019 completed the FPAA Certificate for Doctors in Sexual and Reproductive Health. Sujana has appointments available on a Tuesday morning.
Dr. Alice Downie

Dr Alice Downie is passionate about women’s health care. She has trained in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Launceston General Hospital and the Royal Women’s Hospital in Victoria. She graduated from UTAS in 2006, and then did residency at the LGH, Alfred Hospital and Royal Women’s hospitals. She has many years of general practice experience in Victoria and Tasmania.
Dr Alice Downie offers the full range of services from contraception, IUD insertions, sexual health consulting, pelvic pain, and antenatal shared care. She works on a Thursday morning.
Other positions held are GP at the Norwood Medical Centre and surgical assistant at St Vincent’s Calvary Hospital. She has three children and outside of medicine she enjoys bike riding, music, and cooking.
Dr. Emma Green
Dr. Emma Green
Dr. Emma Green is a dedicated and experienced General Practitioner with a strong focus on women’s health, having spent 10 years in a dedicated obstetrics and gynaecology role before starting GP training and achieving her DRANZCOG in 2022.
As a fellowed GP, she has cultivated a comprehensive understanding of the unique health needs and challenges faced by women throughout their life stages. Dr. Green’s commitment to patient care is complemented by her passion for education; she has consistently enjoyed mentoring junior staff and teaching medical students throughout her career, fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Originally from the UK, Dr. Green has recently relocated to Launceston from Queensland, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the local medical community. She is eager to contribute her expertise and enthusiasm for women’s health to the region, while continuing her commitment to teaching and supporting the growth of young medical practitioners.
Dr. Green’s combination of clinical excellence, dedication to education, and genuine passion for women’s health makes her a valuable asset to both her patients and the medical community in Launceston.

Dr Anna Carswell
Dr Anna Carswell
Dr Anna Carswell commenced work at Norwood Medical Centre in 2024 after providing obstetric care as a rural GP in South-East Queensland for over a decade. Anna is a Tasmanian, graduating from the University of Tasmania in 2005. She pursued General Practice training in Goondiwindi Queensland in 2009, gaining a fellowship with RACGP and ACRRM. She provides family medicine, women’s health and acute care, with special interest in women’s and children’s health, family planning and pregnancy care. She enjoys traveling with her husband and three boys, running, baking and home hairdressing.

Dear Patients
I am letting you know that I have made the decision to retire from clinical practice and my last day of work in the Launceston Women’s Health Clinic was on 26th June 2025.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful work colleagues I have been privileged to work with over the last 30 years: reception staff, admin staff, nursing and medical friends. I have been so fortunate to work with some wonderful people over my career at West Tamar Health, Family Planning Tasmania, the Refugee Clinic and for the last 5 years at Launceston Women’s Health Clinic.
It has been a great privilege and pleasure to have looked after so many wonderful patients and I do thank you most sincerely for allowing me the opportunity to be involved in your care and I wish you all the very best for the future.
The Launceston Women’s Health Clinic will continue as normal providing care for existing and new patients, but from July 1st the practice will relocate to Norwood Medical Centre .
